Foreign, education ministries jointly promote educational diplomacy

Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung and Education Minister Cheng Ying-yao held a meeting May 5 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Taipei City, highlighting the government’s commitment to personnel cultivation and enhancing Taiwan’s global competitiveness.
 
According to the MOFA, the two ministries will increase the number of Taiwan Scholarship recipients to attract more international students to Taiwan. This aligns with the Taiwan Global Pathfinders Initiative proposed by President Lai Ching-te and is anticipated to boost the global involvement of the country’s youth, it said.
 
Through another program, the government will invite more young talent from Taiwan’s allies to the country, the ministry said, adding that it will continue to engage in integrated diplomacy to share Taiwan’s experience and advance allies’ comprehensive development.
 
The two agencies also discussed assisting allies with personnel training and industrial development by offering remote and in-person professional instruction, establishing dual degree programs and carrying out cooperative education initiatives, the MOFA said. The ministry is committed to deepening knowledge and technology exchanges and strengthening workers’ international competitiveness and cross-cultural capabilities, it added.
 
The MOFA concluded by pledging to work with the Ministry of Education and actors across all sectors to help allies and partners cultivate critical personnel for strategic industries while advancing Taiwan’s international influence.
