El Salvador Coffee Classroom – roasting, tasting and cupping techniques

In order to enhance Taiwan - Central America International Coffee Exchange, this Office has invited technical experts from El Salvador Coffee to Taiwan, at the end of July, to conduct a workshop on coffee tasting and coffee preparation, hoping to establish a good business relationship with coffee producers in El Salvador. In this five-day workshop, the technical experts of El Salvador Coffee will guide the participants to basic skills, with a variety of tests to wake up the taste buds. The tasting of coffee from different regions of El Salvador has an objective to understand the basic characteristics of coffee drinks, and various characteristics of different coffee types grown in different regions. Moreover, participants will be instructed to roast coffee beans, in order to understand the possible variables and conditions during the roasting process, roasting colors vary due to the drinks prepared, such as French press and percolator, to correctly prepare a cup of premium coffee drink.

Short-term results of this project will enable participants to learn more about coffee roasting techniques to awaken the inherent characteristics of coffee beans, then attract people to taste a high-quality aromatic cup of coffee. Participants can also prepare an excellent cup of coffee to satisfy consumers´ tasting buds. For the mid term, this workshop is expected to enable the coffee industry with the provision of excellent quality coffee beverages and supply, to significantly increase coffee sales, at the same time, increase the value of professional baristas.
