2015 Central America and the Dominican Republic Tourism Business Opportunity Investigation Mission

2015-09-02

Central American and Caribbean countries possess such rich tourism resources, with attractions such as the Mayan ruins, colonial cities, resort beaches, and volcanoes, that they are not only the top choices in TripAdvisor as the must visit places, many of the attractions are also listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In recent years, governments of these Central American and Caribbean countries invested heavily in improving national infrastructure to help attract foreign investment that will participate in the development and active promotion of the tourism industry.

To support states, that are friendly with the Republic of China, in their marketing efforts on the tourism industry, CATO is organizing a tourism business-opportunity investigation group to visit Central America and the Dominican Republic for the first time ever, this year . The group will depart for Central America and the Dominican Republic on September 8, 2015, visiting a total of 7 countries, and return to Taiwan on October 3. This trip is organized by CATO with the help of overseas embassies and tourism promotion related organizations of each host country visited on this trip, and they are arranging business meetings with local travel agency operators, hotel operators, and travel study institutions  and official government representatives. Additionally, sightseeing attraction investigation visits  are arranged and include: Mayan ruins, ecological protection areas, coffee farms, holiday islands, and volcanic lakes. It is our hope that this effort may encourage global Chinese to go sightseeing in Central America and the Caribbean, and thus encourage businesses in Taiwan to develop and invest in relevant industries in the regions.
