Over 2.4 million applicants collect Day 1 Triple Stimulus Vouchers

2020/07/17

Over 2.4 million applicants collected the government’s Triple Stimulus Vouchers on the first day of release July 15, according to the Ministry of the Economic Affairs.

More than 1.7 million used designated convenience stores, supermarkets and pharmacy chains, while nearly 700,000 opted for 1,300 Chungwha Post Co. Ltd. outlets. The green light for collection was given during the initial TSV pre-order commencing July 1.

The vouchers, which expire Dec. 31, 2020, can be spent on a variety of goods and services. These include purchases made via approved e-commerce platforms and bricks-and-mortar stores, as well as travel-related expenditures, taxi fares, train tickets and admission to art exhibitions and sporting activities.

All ROC (Taiwan) nationals and foreign spouses of citizens with residency can receive NT$3,000 (US$102) in vouchers after making an out-of-pocket payment of NT$1,000.

TSV seeks to spur local economic activity as Taiwan transitions into the post-pandemic new life. It is a central plank in the government’s ongoing policy of mitigating the impact of coronavirus first reported in the Chinese city of Wuhan late last year.
