MOFA releases short for WHO campaign spotlighting how Taiwan Can Help

2020/11/10

A short film spotlighting how Taiwan Can Help achieve the World Health Organization’s goal of Health For All was released Nov. 5 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The five-minute video titled “Never Give Up” documents the work of Taiwan’s government and medical staffers in helping a young mother from Vietnam find a lifesaving liver transplant for her daughter during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Le Van Dai Trang is an anchor for a Vietnamese TV station whose nine-month-old daughter Tron Tron suffers from biliary atresia. With assistance from the MOFA and Ministry of Health and Welfare, she was able to bring her daughter to Taiwan to receive life-saving treatment at Taipei Veterans General Hospital.

According to the MOFA, the case is just one example of how Taiwan’s medical services continue to deliver during the COVID-19 pandemic while helping people at home and abroad through the use of high-tech treatments underpinned by the spirit of humanity.

The eye-catching short is available on the MOFA-affiliated Trending Taiwan Facebook and YouTube platforms, as well as the ministry’s official Facebook and Instagram pages. It can be viewed with subtitles in Chinese, English, French, German, Indonesian, Japanese, Russian, Spanish, Thai and Vietnamese.
