The first-ever Swedish, European Parliament delegation will visit Taiwan April 10 in a show of support for the country and its 23.5 million people, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Led by Boriana Aberg, chair of the Swedish-Taiwanese Parliamentarian Association, and Charlie Weimers, member of the European Parliament, the delegation includes Riksdag lawmakers Kerstin Lundgren, third deputy speaker; Bjorn Soder; Lars Adaktusson; Markus Wiechel; Asa Coenraads; Ann-Sofie Alm; Lars Puss; and Alexander Christiansson.

During the delegation’s five-day visit, members will meet with President Tsai Ing-wen, Legislative Yuan President You Si-kun, Premier Su Tseng-chang and other key officials like MOFA Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu, Minister of Economic Affairs Wang Mei-hua and Minister without Portfolio Audrey Tang. They will also attend a Taiwan-Sweden national security and defense forum, as well as hold talks with representatives of locally based Swedish companies.

According to the MOFA, Taiwan, Sweden and the EU are like-minded partners sharing similar approaches to addressing global challenges, building democratic resilience, and combating disinformation and misinformation. The government will continue to deepen friendship and expand exchanges with both sides based on this rock-solid foundation, the ministry said.
