2024/03/26

Minister of Foreign Affairs Jaushieh Joseph Wu met with Vitĕzslav Schrek, governor of the Czech Republic’s Vysocina Region, March 22 in Taipei City, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Wu first expressed appreciation for Schrek’s staunch support of deepening Taiwan-Czechia relationships. The two like-minded partners’ friendship is also demonstrated by the visit of Tomáš Kopečný, the Czech government’s envoy for the reconstruction of Ukraine, as well as Vice President-elect Hsiao Bi-khim’s address to Prague-based think tank Sinopsis and meeting with Senate President Miloš Vystrčil earlier this month, he added.

In response, Schrek said the current visit will expand bilateral sustainable cooperation models with Taiwan in areas spanning health and social care, remote medical services and information and communications technology applications.

During their five-day stay, group members attended Smart City Summit and Expo in Taipei City, called on Taichung City Mayor Lu Shiow-yen and witnessed the signing of a cooperative memorandum of understanding between National Chin-yi University of Technology and College of Polytechnics Jihlava, the MOFA said. They also toured Taichung Veterans General Hospital’s telehealth center and the city’s community care service centers, the ministry added.
